Last night, the Seton Conquistadors JH/JV were victorious in their season opener against the GMBL Babe Ruth Orioles.  The final score was 6-3.

 

The Conquistadors got things started in the first inning when James Spicer singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, then later that inning stole home for the second run of the game, but the Orioles fought back and evened things up at two apiece in the bottom of the first inning.  However, the Conquistadors pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning on an RBI sacrifice ground out from Hugh McCloskey and from Ryland Hebert stealing home on a passed ball.  Seton scored two more runs in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Chris Arnold and an RBI sacrifice ground out from Luke “Woody” Wood.

 

Robbie Gasser took the mound and the win for the Conquistadors.  The lefty surrendered only three runs on three hits over four innings, striking out five and walking zero.  Patrick Gross threw three valiant innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Both pitchers gave dominant performances!
