Boys Junior Varsity Baseball vs. Saint John Paul the Great Catholic HS School

Game Date
May 6, 2021

Seton - 7
John Paul the Great - 4

The Seton Conquistadors JV Boys Baseball team put together a solid win against St John Paul the Great boys JV tonight in a hard fought battle behind a courageous 7 inning gem pitched by Joe Mallory.

The Conquistadors went down early allowing two runs on three hits in the first innings, but were steadfast in their resolve to best their division rivals and by the 4th inning led JPG by a score of 4-3 after clutch hits by Michael Flynn, Mark Mosimann, Dom Miller, and recently called up 7th grader, Ryland Hebert.

JPG tied the game in the 5th by adding a run, but the scrappy Conquistadors put three more on the board in the bottom of the 5th and would hold that lead until the end. The Wolves brought in their Senior starting pitcher to try and stop the bleeding and successfully kept the Conquistadors from scoring again, but Freshman Joe Mallory was equal to the task and held JPG scoreless in the last two innings facing the heart of the Wolves order.

The Seton defense was impressive with a gutsy performance by Chris Lynch behind the plate who valiantly blocked every pitch in the dirt and didn’t allow a single score on a passed ball. Mark Mosimann and Henry Knight locked up the left side of the infield and Dom Miller looked like Stretch Armstrong at first base reaching for throws to beat runners by a step and get the outs. Ryland Hebert and Zach Vallimont also saw some action in the outfield and made the plays to get to the outs.

All in all, it was a great team effort that resulted in a win celebration on the mound after Mallory got the last batter to pop out to first base.

Great job guys!!!
